Happy Mothers Day

Monday, 22 December 2008 17:23

Dear all,

Today as is a Mothers day, therefore I would like to say 'Happy Mothers Day' to all mothers and mothers to be. as we know that everyone of you is a child from your mother but sometime we are forget to say thank you to them who bring us to life and made us become a person.

However not all mother are lucky, as some of them died during the effort to bring a new life to this world. In Indonesia it self, WHO recorded that Maternal mortality ratio (307/100,000 live births). It is amongst the highest in the South-East Asia region (IDHS 2003). The lifetime risk of a mother dying of causes related to childbirth is estimated to be 1 in 65—compared with 1 in 1,100 in Thailand (WHO 2002).

In remote places of Indonesia such as Papua or Nias or many other places, this number is higher mostly because lack of access to health care services due to various reason. IBU Foundation up until still continue its effort to answer the inequality of access to health care services in rural and remote places in Indonesia especially for mothers and children with various programs and projects. It is not an easy work for us , it need more than a tremendous effort from us, and of course we need as much as help and support from all Indonesian people to continue contributing to increasing Indonesian Mother's welfare.

One of the reason why I am creating IBU Foundation is also to say a thank you to all mother in Indonesia who gave everything they have including their life to bring a life to the next Indonesia generation including us.

Thank you to all your support and once again Happy Mothers Day
