Seventh Day Sitrep on Java Earthquake

  • 77 killed, 21 still missing, 64.143 houses severely damaged, 88,636 Displaced (BNPB)

General Need Assessment
Due to large number of damaged houses and displaced persons the need of shelters remain the most needed items, while also working tools for cleaning damaged houses. Some of IDPs who have mild damaged houses already come back to their houses, however due to the several aftershock earthquake happened some of them still afraid to come back to their house. Some area reported that IDPs already need food items, such as Rice, Cooking oils etc, however because most of the market is still opened it is generally the food items is considerably secured except for some area where the people are living poor, some of IDPs who have babies also are requesting baby foods and other babies supplies. Access to clean water in the area we work is mostly available however the need to established emergency latrines appear in IDP camps where there are have large number of IDPs.

IBU Foundation has been mobilizing staff and emergency volunteers since the first day of the earthquake and already conducted response since the second days. IBU Foundation is focusing in Garut in pameungpeuk Area, Bandung, in Pangalengan area as well as Cianjur.
Garut District
In Garut area IBU Foundation has established Basecamp in Desa Pamalayanan, Cikelet, to run the emergency relief for 4 Subdistrict, Cisompet, Cibalong, Cikelet and Pameungpeuk subdistricts with Logistic Distribution, Medical assistance and Psychosocial Asisstance

IBU Response
IBU foundation focused to response in distribution non-food items and medical services in the area, and also deploying psychosocial team to conduct psychosocial assessment. Below is the summary of Non Food items distributed in this area which come from CRS, Help germany and Mercy Relief Singapore
  • Tarpaulins 130
  • Blankets 1550
  • Saroong 1050
  • Hygiene Kits 453
  • Cooking sets: (pans, kettle, pot)
  • Baby foods : 550 pcs
  • Water Purification tablets 110 box

Need assessment
Below are the logistic supplies which still needed the most for Garut areas
  • Tarpaulins/Tents, Blankets, Mattresses
  • Working tools for cleaning houses: shovel, spade, crowbar, hammers, cart, chisels, saws, forks, cement spoon, buckets etc
  • Food Items: Rice, Cooking Oils, Sugar etc
  • Medicine: medicine for children: Cough syrup, antibiotic syrups etc
  • Emergency Latrines

Bandung District
IBU Foundation is based in Pangalengan, in Sukamanah village since the first day, conducting the response in this sub district which is the most badly hit in Bandung Districts while also serving the neighboring sub-districts such as Kertasari. In Pangalengan frok 13 Villages which has hardly hit,IBU focused sukamanah, margamekar and margaluyu

Assessment
IBU Foundation are trying to collect primer data assessment as the data from BNPB is too small compare to the reality and the data from Subdistrict Satlak is too large, however we still not finished the data collection, although we do not stop distributing supplies and doing mobile clinics in this area.

IBU Response
IBU provide also static and Mobile Clinics to IDP camps in Pangalengan subdistrict and Distributing Non Food Items which has been donated from Mercy Relief Singapore as well as public donations.

Below are the non food items which has been distributed mostly in Sukamanah, Margaluyu Pangalengan Kertasari :

  • Tarpaulins : 305 pcs
  • Blankets : 410 pcs
  • Kerosene lamps : 305 pcs
  • Baby Foods : 44 box@24pcs
  • Gas Stove : 600 pcs

Kertasari Subdistrict
  • Tarpaulins: 100
  • Blankets 100 pcs
  • Kerosene lamps: 96 pcs
  • Gas Stove: 100 pcs

Need Assessment:
  • Medicine to support medical team conducting mobile clinics especially medicine for children
  • Working tools for cleaning houses: shovel, spade, crowbar, hammers, cart, chisels, saws, forks, cement spoon, buckets etc
  • Non food items: Tents, Tarpaulins, Blanket, cooking sets, lamps, Hygiene kits
  • Water and sanitation: and emergency latrines
  • Food items : Rice, Cooking oils etc and Baby Foods.

Cianjur
IBU team responding to Pagelaran Subdistricts and neighbouring subdistricst through our DRR Team which assisted by DRR CBO which has been established, they have been assessing and responding with NFI distribution.
