The main objective for the emergency and disaster program is to protect the community especially mothers and children before, during, and after disaster events. Currently we are promoting Community Based Disaster Management Program (CBDM) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) while continuing to develop our capacity to respond through integrated emergency response covering health, psychosocial, water, sanitation, and basic needs.
IBU continues its effort to respond to any disaster in the region with their Emergency Response Unit volunteers. With experienced gained since the beginning of its establishment, IBU has responded to some of the biggest disasters that have occurred in Indonesia such as the 2005 tsunami in Aceh, large earthquakes in Nias and Jogjakarta, and many others. In responding to disasters, IBU is partnering with the Atlas Medical Pioneer (AMP), a University Medical Doctor Association in Padjadjaran University which has more than 800 medical doctors as its members. We continue to develop our volunteer network so we will always be ready to respond to any emergency situation.
IBU continues to recruit and train volunteers to be placed as our Emergency Response Unit and equip them with the knowledge and competency necessary to respond promptly.
