Peer Counselor Training From Skill to Succeed Project in Subang (en)

IMG_4045_1400x1050Skills to Succeed Projects for Out School Youth is a program supported by Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik in improving the capacity and opportunities of disadvantaged youth and young people to have better-living conditions through working skills, employment opportunities, funding or self-employment. One of the activities of this program is to open access to quality counseling related to the employment and entrepreneurship for young people especially for those who drop out of school or are out of school and conduct mentoring for young people after participated in counseling training.

On 21-23 May 2019, IBU Foundation conducted peer counselor training and content creation in media social. The peer counselors are expected to be able to assist when peers experience obstacles in facing employments world and developing business through direct meetings or remotely by telephone and social media.

“It’s been done the three days of training on peer counselors. The training went on with the enthusiasm of young people. The first two days were provided with knowledge of counseling, in the hope of transmitting that knowledge to friends and peers in their villages. The third day, debriefing and refreshing on social media. They are familiar with three popular social media, namely Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Here and there, they discuss the benefits of social media, updating status, sharing, make friends, find information, be friends, and so on.” – Tito Panggabean, trainer in peer counselor training.
