A notification from WhatsApp pops up. When I opened, my heart melts. A wefie picture of me and Pak Sahzan. We (IBU’s volunteers) called him Pak Sahzan. He is a middle-aged man, a father, and one of IBU’s local volunteers from Lombonga Village, Donggala District.
When we took a picture together, he said that he will save the picture carefully for him if he missed me. “Uh, I am flattered.”
“I want to take a picture with Awan, so I can see it if I am longing.”
Not only me, but all the team and IBU’s volunteers also took a picture with him. By his request one by one be asked “Can we take a picture together?” then “click”
It was the last day of the Structured Psychosocial Support Workshop which was conducted in four days for local volunteer participants in Palu City. Pak Sahzan took time to buy new clothes. I think for souvenirs. In fact, the clothes are to be signed.
“This shirt is signed by IBU Foundation volunteers. I will keep it for a memento.”
I knew him for the first time on the closing day of the children’s and youth team competitions in Lombonga Village. In the morning, he came to the house of Ibu Asliani (Lombonga local volunteer). With his legs and hands full of remnants of grasses.
“What you’ve done Pak Sahzan?” Asked Bang Iwan (IBU volunteer).
“Done trimmed the grass. Trim it a bit, Bang Iwan. Because in the evening, Mister Deputy Regent’s will be present at the closing. So, we trimmed grass in the field.”
By himself, he trimmed the tall grass in the Lombonga Village field. While occasionally Pak Sahzan “hide” cow dirt with sand behind the stadium. Understandably, there are cows left around in the field.
“After dawn I immediately did it. It’s just a little.”
Pak Sahzan. Pak Sahzan.
Even during the Learning Event (the handover of IBU activity to local volunteers in the assisted village), he came. The program was held in six villages, In Sigi and Donggala. The farthest village is Lombonga, the village of Pak Sahzan came from. Three hours long by car from Palu City. In Sigi, the endpoint is Bangga Village, which takes almost two hours from Palu City. Didn’t see the far distance between Lombonga and Bangga Village, he still came with his motorcycle.
In another Donggala area, Loli Tasiburi village he was present. In Beka Village, he came. In Sibalaya Utara village, he did not miss. Only in Karawana Village he didn’t came, because the time of the event was exactly one day after the activities were conducted in Lombonga Village.
“This correlates friendship with other local volunteers. So I can live much longer.” He said with his typical smile.
Sunday (31/3), the inauguration and closing of Rumah Kencana in Lombonga Village. It is said that there was a tear from Pak Sahzan who was detained for not falling on his cheek. The tears he hid and not to look sad in front of IBU’s volunteer, because of farewell with them.
After taking a photo together, he smiled again. Stay with tears that don’t fall on the cheeks.
Thank you, Mr. Sahzan. Our prayers are to keep your good health.
Awan
